Our Philosophy

What Makes Us Different

Full Spectrum Recovery is an outpatient treatment clinic that provides affordable and respectful counseling services that help you and those you care about get support for depression and anxiety as well as drug or alcohol problems.

We have a research based non-judgmental approach to counseling that meets our clients "where they're at" and not where others think they should be. This "treatment matching" approach is especially important when addressing drug and alcohol problems.  Flexibility, privacy and choice are hallmarks of our programs.

We firmly believe that our clients will be motivated to work on goals that they themselves choose. We facilitate motivation by providing a menu of research based treatment tracks (from moderation to abstinence) that helps those impacted by substance abuse to choose an appropriate starting point to reduce harm.

If it appears that initial goals cannot be met, we support rapid movement towards more appropriate goals. We may also encourage participation in a variety of structured treatment programs, including medical, psychiatric or detoxification, if more support is needed.

Our treatment team includes specialists in adult, couples, adolescent and family counseling.

We bring over 50 years of experience with inpatient and outpatient treatment, with specific focus on trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse and dependency, family crisis interventions, relapse prevention, spirituality, and long-term after care.

We stress progress not perfection on the journey towards successful recovery.

What If I'm Not Completely Ready To Work On My Drug Or Alcohol Problem At This Time?

With our approach you do not have to be "ready" in the classic sense. Historically,  treatment providers judge clients as "in denial" if they are not "ready" to embrace abstinence only. There is an assumption that you must "hit bottom" in order to be self motivated. At Full Spectrum Recovery we believe that ambivalence and confusion concerning alcohol and other drug related problems is normal. All substance abusers must proceed at their own pace through specific stages in their recovery, including relapse. It is our job to help empower our clients with motivational strategies that move them through these stages as rapidly as possible.

What Do You Mean By Recovery?

A classic definition of recovery has been limited to continuous, total abstinence while working a 12-step program. Our 21st century approach expands the definition to "a willingness to take action now to reduce the harm of alcohol and other drugs". Recovery occurs when the client determines there is a problem and begins movement towards change. While we embrace the classic definition of recovery for some clients, we acknowledge that others are also in recovery whenever they select and work towards a goal that reduces harm.

What  If My Drug and Alcohol Problem Is Just Masking Depression And Anxiety?

We know alcohol and drug problems are triggered by anxiety, depression and trauma.  We believe that the best and most effective way to tackle substance abuse and these underlying problems is through one-on-one therapy.   When you sit down with a private therapist who is an expert in the field, with nobody else in the room, you can really start to do the individual healing work you need to do. There is nothing in the world that compares to cutting-edge, sophisticated, one-on-one therapy.  Many of our clients find that their cravings to use alcohol or other drugs subsides as they heal their underlying issues.
